Childhood Wellbeing Practitioners in Schools
Sixty new child wellbeing practitioners will work with school staff, with the goal of identifying vulnerable and ‘at-risk’ children and their families, and connecting them earlier to community and support services.
This program, which was announced by the Department of Education and Child Development (DECD) in 2015, works with a service integration model across DECD and focusses on the elements of ‘sharing responsibility’ for the positive development of children and young people across families, schools and communities.
The child wellbeing practitioners will work collaboratively and strategically with education sites and community partners, providing timely and effective supports and interventions so that children and families are supported before intervention is required from within the child protection system.
