Momentum is gathering on the development of the new Parafield brand outlet centre in Adelaide’s north.
Located within the boundaries of Parafield Airport and fronting Main North Road, the multi-million dollar “District Outlet Centre” Adelaide’ will be a Harbour Town for the northern suburbs, creating ongoing jobs in an outlet shopping centre for northern Adelaide.
The project is expected to create 300 jobs during construction and 200 jobs in retail and hospitality businesses when the centre opens in early 2018.
Brett Lovett, director at major developer DevWest said the location near Parafield Airport was an ideal choice.
“With almost 1 km of frontage to Main North Road, the centre will be highly visible to the estimated 47,000 cars that pass by the site each day,” Brett said.
“Another key factor in the decision to locate in the north is the growing population by 2026 this is expected to be almost 640,000 residents.
Brett said leasing agent Metier and Leedwell had received strong interest from national and international brands, so that about half of the centre’s 70 tenancies had been leased.
The centre will include a food and beverage precinct, a large alfresco dining area and 599 parking spaces and has the potential to generate apparel sales of more than $120 million by 2020.
Construction of the centre will begin by mid-2017, and is expected to take approximately 9 to 10 months to complete.
